We stopped along the bridge, to see the city lights
Infinite clouds hung low, filled the Swedish sky
Our eyes met and we kissed sheltered by the failing light
Faces flickered over your shoulder as the tunnelbana went by

Caught in the Northern lights of this shining city
Lost in the northern lights of your eyes they’re so pretty.

We walked hand in hand, through the gardens of Drottningholm
I took your photo and you took mine, balanced on a garden wall
On the boat past Norrmallarstrand you pointed out your childhood home
You squeezed my hand and kissed me then, I was ready for a fall

The short time we had, on that lovely day,
It was the only phrase I had, Min Kara, so I said it.
You taught me to say, “Jag alskar dej”
I couldn’t stand to see you sad, min kara, so I said it

You brought me to the Station, for our last good bye
Lost in the swirling crowd, I saw the sadness in your eyes
You taught me one little phase I never felt I had a choice
I said those words but you never heard the real meaning in my voice
