The Cult of Nothing
© Kingdon 2010
I keep on hearing
Whats best for me
I hear it on the TV
It seems so feasible
And so sincere
But I do not trust them
I do not want them near
The cult of nothing is where I wish to be
No other voices, only hearing me
The cult of nothing is where I wish to be
Turn off that radio, turn off that TV
I suspect that they
Do not care for me or you
And I am doubting
That what they say is ever true
Im being lectured
And told what to do
Free speech for the masses?
Dont be such a fool!
The cult of nothing is where I wish to be
No other voices, only hearing me
The cult of nothing is where I wish to be
Turn off that radio, turn off that TV
They want my money
They want my vote
They want obedience
The removal of hope
The cult of nothing
The cult of nothing
The cult of nothing
The cult of nothing...

The Winter of Our Discontent
© Daum 2011
I thought I always knew
That my destiny was you
But now I’m not so sure
The world's a lonely place
And we can no longer face
The Better Angels of Our nature
When I awoke I was still dreaming
It seemed that you were heaven sent
Now you say you must be leaving
In the winter of our discontent
You are not made like me
Yet you mean everything to me
And I could never make you stay
I could never leave you
I could not deceive you
No matter what you say
When I awoke I was still dreaming
It seemed that you were heaven sent
Now you say you must be leaving
In the winter of our discontent
When I awoke I was still dreaming
I didn't realize what you meant
Now you say you must be leaving
In the winter of our discontent

Shades Of Gray
© Daum 2011
I rue the day I ever met you
I hear what you say but I just don't get you
Your pretty words pour down like rain
But when your lies dry up you'll be gone again
Subtle Shades of Gray
That range form dark to light
Lies in every word you say
Just spell it out in Black and White
I can't do enough for Daddy’s little girl
There's not that much love in the world
I can't save your tortured soul
You come apart I could never make you whole
Subtle Shades of Gray
That range form dark to light
Lies in every word you say
Just spell it out in Black and White
I curse the day that I ever loved you
You don't want to know what I really think of you
I come home at night to find you in my bed
There’s a million things I'd rather do instead
Subtle Shades of Gray
That range form dark to light
Lies in every word you say
Just spell it out in Black and White

Dark City
(c) Robert Kingdon 2011
This dark city
Where the sun never shines for you
A new dawn rising
where the ashes of truth will burn through
These broken times
Where a man needs to hide away
A new world order
Where the embers of truth will remain
I am saved or so the sign said
A thought that stays inside my head
But am I losing my mind?
Losing my mind?
I am saved or so the sign said
A thought that stays inside my head
But am I losing my mind?
Losing my mind?
This dark city
Where the sun never shines for you
An age of reason
Where the words of the wise will break through
These broken times
Where a man must find a way
A golden dawn
Where the wise will have their say
I am saved or so the sign said
A thought that stays inside my head
But am I losing my mind?
Losing my mind?
This dark city
This dark city falling
This dark city
Dark city falling

Katarina
© Daum 2011
We wrote each other letters every week
A private joke that passed between us
I'd play your suitor on my knees
You were my Imperial Russian Princess
My Darling Princess Katarina
My pleading letters would begin
My dear beloved Katarina
It was your heart I hoped to win
In our game from a Russian novel
You were imperious, and refined
I claimed I was immobilized by passion
Your beauty seared into my mind
My Darling Princess Katarina
In time our game came to an end
My sweet darling Katarina
We could no longer just pretend
We exchanged letters all summer
It seemed like a silly thing
Our epistolary romance
Raged like the Torrents of Spring
Then one winter's night we came together
And dropped the game to be ourselves
As I kissed you on your lips
We realized what we felt
My Darling Princess Katarina
What was once a game became real
My sweet darling Katarina
The game hid what we both feel
You were my Princess Katarina
As we held each other tight
My Darling Princess Katarina
Our bodies in the fading light

All The Dreams I Had

All The Dreams I Had
Eric Daum 2011
Abandon hope all ye who enter here
You should really post a sign
I should have realized through that lonely year
That I would never make you mine
All my Energy
All my Artistry
All the time that I had
All my Fantasies
All my Poetry
All the dreams that I had
All the dreams that I had, wasted on you
My devotion receives an empty stare
Why did I fly out to the coast
You insist that you really cared
And yet you never held me close
All my Energy
All my Artistry
All the time that I had
All my Fantasies
All my Poetry
All the dreams that I had
All the dreams that I had, wasted on you

Holy War
© Eric Daum 2011
Given the choice
Between Reason and Faith
I'll take Reason any day
Given the choice
Between Freedom and Belief
I'll choose what I believe
What gives you the right
To shove faith down our throats.
Do you know what you’re fighting for?
What gives you the right
To tell me my beliefs
I won't fight your Holy War
You claim in God We Trust
One Nation Under God
And yet you say you want us to be free
Your orders from on High
I think you read them wrong
Is there room for those who don't believe?
What gives you the right
To shove faith down our throats.
Do you know what you're praying for?
What gives you the right
To sell me my beliefs
I won't fight your Holy War
Yours is not my cause
Because I don't believe
In the God you’re fighting for
Don't I have the right
To stick to my beliefs?
I won't fight your Holy War

New Hope
Kingdon (c) 2011
Another time
Another place
Another chance
And a brand new face
New hopes
New fears
For I have shed
A thousand tears
And so it goes
And now its here
And now its time
To taste my fears
And so it goes
And now its here
And now its time
To taste my fears
The clouds have gone
My souls intact
It compensates for
The hope I lack
New hopes
New dreams
Born again?
Or so it seems
And so it goes
And now its here
And now its time
To taste my fears
And so it goes
And now its here
And now its time
To taste my fears

A Mermaid's Tears
© Daum 2011
Washed by the sea
Worn smooth on the sand
Lost on the beach
So smooth in my hand
A mermaid's tears
A gift from the sea
Ground down through the years
Becomes a shard of memory
Tossed in the waves
A bottle of tears
The memories we save
Grow dim through the years
A mermaid's tears
A gift from the sea
Ground down through the years
Becomes a shard of memory

When We Were Young
© Kingdon 2011
I remember the times
When we were young
It was always warm
And the days were long
But now I see, the end is near
A time, when I'm no longer here
Just wishing that I had my time again
Don't you? don't you?
I never thought about the time
When I'd get old
When nights are long
And it feels so cold
But now I see, the end is near
A time, when I'm no longer here
Just wishing that I had my time again
Don't you? don't you?
It doesn't matter anyway
It doesn't matter anyway
It doesn't matter anyway
No matter what I say
It doesn't matter anyway
It doesn't matter anyway
It doesn't matter anyway
Instrumental
I remember the times
When we were young
It was always warm
And the days were long
But now I see, that the end is near
A time, when I'm no longer here
Just wishing I had my time again
Don't you? don't you?
